Islamabad: High-level meeting of Privatization Board A high-level meeting on privatization of various institutions and related issues was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan. Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan said that all stakeholders should remain on board to privatize national entities and that the Privatization Commission should ensure full cooperation with companies making serious proposals. Abdul Aleem Khan said that the Prime Minister wants to privatize PIA as soon as possible and there should be no delay in completing the remaining work in this regard. Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan said that the Privatization Commission should achieve financial autonomy by reducing its dependence on the Federal Government and increasing its own resources.
Also, Federal Privatization Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarrar held a meeting to review the progress of privatization of Housing Finance Corporation. In this meeting, it was agreed that the protection of agency employees will be taken into account during privatization. The technical and legal aspects of the privatization of real estate finance corporations were also discussed in the meeting and a dialogue session was held with business groups wishing to purchase real estate finance corporations and the staff of the Privatization Committee. Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan said that all privatization proposals should be exposed to the media in front of the camera so that there is no question of transparency. Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarrar also emphasized on the initial privatization of Housing Finance Corporation and ordered to consider all procedural and legal aspects in this regard.
Earlier, in the 220th meeting of the Privatization Commission Board chaired by the Minister of Privatization, Investment and Communications Council, Chairman of the Privatization Commission Board Abdul Aleem Khan approved the proceedings of the 218th and 219th PCB meetings. The meeting said that the PCB is in touch with relevant departments such as Finance, Law and Aviation. In addition, he was given international media coverage for his appointment as a financial advisor for the Roosevelt Hotel and other privatization projects. More institutions have been selected for privatization, and discussions are underway to ensure rapid progress in this area.
