Gilgit: “A high-level committee, led by Romina Khurshid Alam, Prime Minister’s Assistant for Climate Change and Environmental Harmony, convened in Skardu to discuss the establishment of a Mountaineering School in Baltistan. The committee, comprising government officials, ministers, and experts, aimed to promote sustainable tourism and environmental awareness in the region.
During the meeting, Alam emphasized the project’s significance, highlighting its potential to provide professional training for youth, boost tourism, and create employment opportunities for locals. The committee also explored ways to engage the local population, develop infrastructure, and collaborate with international mountaineering experts.
The proposed school aims to attract international mountaineers, fostering economic development while preserving Baltistan’s natural beauty. The committee agreed to expedite the project’s implementation to realize its benefits and enhance tourism in the region. Following the meeting, Alam visited the proposed site for the school.”
