KARACHI: Multan Sultans spin-bowling coach Alexandra Hartley was delighted after Usama Mir created Pakistan Super League (PSL) history during the match against Quetta Gladiators on Tuesday.
Leg-spinner Usama etched his name in the PSL record books after becoming the top wicket-taker in a single edition among bowlers after cleaning up Mohammad Wasim Jr.
With an outstanding performance in PSL 9, Usama has taken a whopping 21 wickets so far, surpassing the previous record of Rashid Khan who took 20 wickets last season while playing for Lahore Qalandars.
Hartley called Usama a “superstar” on X, formerly Twitter.
On the other hand, notable bowlers like Hasan Ali, Abbas Afridi and Ehsanullah have left their mark with impressive wicket displays in previous seasons.

Hasan’s haul of 25 wickets in 2019 is the highest, followed by Afridi’s 23 and Ehsanullah’s 22 in 2023. Notably, the top wicket takers list only collects fast bowlers, with Faheem Ashraf at fourth with 21 wickets in the 2019 edition.
Notably, the PSL 9 playoff schedule has also been confirmed. The Sultans will now face Peshawar Zalmi in Qualifier 1 on March 14, while the Gladiators will face Islamabad United in the Eliminator on March 15.
Sultans and Zalmi have two chances to qualify for the PSL 9 Finals after finishing in the top two spots in the points table as the loser of Qualifier 1 will face the winner of the Eliminator on March 16.
