HARIPUR: The journalists fraternity has here Wednesday elected the new cabinet of the Haripur Press Club for the year 2024/26. The Democrats panel of HPC defeated the Working Journalists Group in the elections that were held in the building of Haripur Press Club amid heightened security.
As per results announced by the election commission Zakir Hussain Tanoli was elected as president securing 37 votes, Hafiz Javed ul Haq bagged 38 votes and elected general secretary. Among the other winning candidates are Arshad Mehmood Boby as senior vice president, Malik Jamil Khan vice president I, Qazi Nisar Ahmed as vice president II, Mehmood Akhtar joint secretary, Shehzad Tanoli secretary coordination while Ishaq Khan and Ishaq Rajput have already been elected as office secretary and Finance secretary unopposed.
The lections were held on the orders of Labor Court Haripur and Abbottabad bench of Peshawar High Court. The HPC was registered for the first time by Democrats group led by Zakir Hussain Tanoli in 2023 registration under Industrial Relations Act 2010, Regional Information Officer Ikram Ullah Shahid performed as chairman election commission while Advocate Asad Saeed Khan President District Bar Association and Advocate Saifullah Khan Qureshi were the members of the election commission deputed by the Labor Court. Meanwhile former provincial minister Qazi Muhammad Asad Khan, former members provincial assembly Dr Faiza Rasheed and Gohar Nawaz Khan, PPP’s senior leader Jehanzeb Khan Tanoli, labor leader Chanzeb Qureshi, social activist Imran Khan Alizai, Raja Hanif Kiyani, office bearers of different civil society organizations observed the HPC’s election process on this occasion.
