LAHORE: Former Pakistan’s all rounder Mohammad Hafeez has made a serious revelation about the fitness level of former Pakistan cricket team led by Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn.
Appearing on a podcast with Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist, Hafeez shared his concerns and observations about the team’s fitness during his tenure as Director of Cricket.
Former team manager Mickey Arthur said that previous management such as former coach Grant Bradburn and current all-rounder Babar Azam did not prioritize the fitness of the players, which affected the team’s performance in the Test series in Australia.
He also recounted the conversation he had with the team’s coach and expressed his displeasure with the coach following orders from the former manager.
“When I left this group, I ticked all the boxes. If I can do it at 41, why not others? When I joined the team as a director, I saw the percentage of the players’ wages increase and their running ability decrease. I asked the coach what happened .Why can’t the players pass the test?” asked Hafeez.
“I was like, if you feel like someone is asking you not to do your job, why don’t you just quit? Just tell them that’s not the way to deal with international cricket, so I can’t do it. The management told me at the time, I followed their orders , that’s why we struggled in the final match of the Test series against Australia,” he concluded.
