KINGSTOWN: Afghanistan openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz broke the record for most runs by a pair in the c against Bangladesh on Tuesday.
The Afghanistan pair scored 442 runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup, more than the 411 scored by Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in 2021.
Gurbaz and Zadran added 59 for the first wicket against Bangladesh.

After batting first, Afghanistan cruised to 115-5 in 20 overs after some clinical bowling by Bangladesh.
Rishad Hussain was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-26 in four overs. Gurbaz took important wickets of Zadran and Gulbadin Naib.
Gurbaz was the top scorer for Afghanistan with 43 off 55 balls with the help of three fours and a six.
Rashid Khan played an unbeaten knock of 19 off 10 balls with three wickets.
Three teams, India, England and South Africa, have qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing event and the fourth team will decide after the match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
