In the Bajaur area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, an unidentified assailant opened fire on a car, killing a polio program official and wounding a policeman.
According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mamond Police Station Dilawar Khan, Dr. Abdul Rehman was returning from the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Khar in the Tarkhoo region of Mamond Tehsil when unknown individuals opened fire on his car.
According to the SHO, the physician oversaw the Bajaur polio vaccination campaign.
Ibraheem Khan, the Rescue 1122 Media Coordinator, reports that the personnel treated the injured and took them to DHQ Khar in serious condition.Rehman died from his wounds, according to Dr. Wazir Khan, the medical superintendent of the facility.
In the Bajaur tribal territory last week, a car inadvertently collided with a roadside bomb, injuring two individuals.

A bomb strike on a police car in the Billoot neighborhood of Mamond tehsil at the beginning of January resulted in the deaths of at least seven police officers assigned to routine duty and the injuries of over twenty others.
A research states that since 2012, 109 people have died in polio-related accidents, while 162 police officers and polio workers have been injured in the same period.
