Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday acknowledged the vital role of reformist and welfare organizations in eliminating societal ills and establishing a peaceful and prosperous society.
He said this in a meeting with delegation from the National Reform Movement, led by Provincial Convenor Haji Sohrab Ali Khan.
The delegation included members of the central Shura of the National Reform Movement from various districts across the province, including Noorul Amin Yousafzai, Noorul Hadi, Shehzad Khan, and Advocate Abdul Rabani, among others.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Governor on their efforts for social reform, emphasizing the importance of eradicating regional conflicts, disputes, hatred, and discrimination.
They also discussed the need to eliminate usury, drugs, and other social vices, while promoting education, improving healthcare facilities, and raising public awareness.
The delegation specifically highlighted the importance of government cooperation in fostering positive behavior among the youth and eliminating negative trends.
They shared that the movement is running awareness campaigns and programs aimed at ending crime, social misconduct, and long-standing family feuds.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi praised the efforts of the National Reform Movement and expressed the government’s readiness to collaborate with organizations and institutions that work for social betterment.
The Governor stressed that the province needs such organizations more than ever to establish an environment of peace, tranquility, and development.
Meanwhile, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, emphasized the importance of Afghan trade in transforming the region’s future during a meeting with a delegation from Bannu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by President Shah Wazir.
The delegation discussed regional security issues and shared concerns about local challenges.
Governor Kundi highlighted the transfer of powers to provinces following the 18th Amendment and stressed the need for modern weapons for police forces to maintain control in challenging circumstances.
He questioned the utilization of funds allocated for counter-terrorism efforts, suggesting better management could have helped reduce terrorism.
Kundi acknowledged security as a significant challenge, particularly in the southern districts, which have become “no-go areas.”
He assured the delegation of his commitment to addressing their concerns.
Similarly, students and faculty members from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Hazara University Manshera visited the Governor House for an educational tour.
During their visit, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the students and highlighted the constitutional responsibilities of the Governor and the historical significance of the Governor House.
The students raised questions on educational development, youth empowerment, security issues, and provincial rights.
They also expressed concerns about access to free education, uniform curricula, technical programs, and employment opportunities for educated youth.
Governor Kundi expressed regret over the lack of permanent Vice Chancellors at the province’s top educational institutions and stressed the need for focused attention on the financial, administrative, and educational resources of higher education.
He emphasized that educated youth could help the province overcome extremism and terrorism.
Kundi also addressed the province’s security situation, urging that political point-scoring should not interfere with efforts to improve it.
He pointed out that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, blessed with natural beauty and over 2,000 religious tourist sites, has vast potential that can be better utilized with improved governance and security.
