Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal said that the government is moving towards sustainable solutions for economic issues.
While addressing a ceremony, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal stated that we had pledged to conduct a census in 2019, 2020, and 2021, but there was no significant implementation during the previous government’s tenure.
He said that in April 2022, the census was initiated on an emergency basis, and more than 122,000 personnel were trained regarding the census. The Statistics Department provided good training to the personnel for the digital census, and NADRA’s cooperation was obtained for the census.
Ahsan Iqbal stated that it was a huge challenge for us to provide complete digital census training to 125,000 people in the shortest possible time. Our only purpose in training the personnel was to make them go through the digital technology process so that they could benefit from this technology.
The Federal Minister for Planning further said that we achieved the first milestone with the cooperation of our IT institutions because the census is a process whose decisions are made not by consensus but based on statistics. In our country, the census is conducted every ten years.
He further added that an important phase of the census is the preparation of software so that the census process can be completed on time. In addition, the attendance of the census staff was also ensured so that the staff would not be on duty elsewhere. Moreover, we successfully ensured the protection of the staff by working with security forces.
