LAHORE:- The government has announced a significant increase in passport fees, especially in the expedited category.
According to recent media reports, the revised fee structure shows a significant increase in various passport categories and page numbers.
On May 8, the cost of a machine-readable passport (MRP) with 36 pages and 5-year validity will be Rs. 12,500. Fees go up to 1,000,000 mana for those looking for a higher page count. 18,000 for 72 pages and a staggering Rs. 23,000 for 100 pages.
For those looking for a term of more than 10 years, the cost has increased. MRP 36 pages 10 years now $10,000. 16,200, while page rates of 72 and 100 Rs. 25,200 and Rs. 32,000 each.
The Directorate General of Passports and Immigration increased passport processing fees on March 6 this year.
Despite increased pressure, backlogs and delays in processing passport applications persist, leaving many applicants frustrated with the system’s efficiency.
