Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said on Tuesday that the civil disobedience movement will start only after taking orders from PTI founder Imran Khan.
Addressing the media in Peshawar, Gandapur said he was ready to carry out the move as per Khan’s instructions and said it would be implemented as soon as the order was issued.
Gandapur expressed his displeasure over not being able to meet Imran Khan, who has been in jail lately. He said that when he tried to meet PTI leaders at Adiala jail, he was denied entry.
“They told me that I am not allowed to meet,” he said, pointing to the restrictions imposed on him despite being the representative of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“I am a representative of all the provinces, I don’t need anyone’s permission. Do high tactics have power?” he questioned, turning to the authorities in charge of banning his meeting with Khan.
The KP CM made it clear that the civil disobedience movement would only be triggered by Khan’s decision and reiterated that he would carry out the orders of the PTI founder. “Imran Khan’s decision on the civil disobedience movement will be implemented,” Gandapur said.
Earlier, Gandapur’s appearance in the Peshawar High Court was marked by a legal development when the court extended his bail until January 16.
The extension came after the federal government filed a detailed account of the many cases filed against it. According to the report, 32 cases have been registered against Gandapur in Islamabad and 33 in Punjab.
The court has held Gandapur to date in one of these cases. Bail was also extended to PTI leader Shibli Faraz, who was granted similar protection till January 16 by the court.
Both Gandapur and Faraz face significant legal challenges, with the federal government filing additional reports on the case against them. The Peshawar High Court has ordered the Chief Minister to be produced before an appropriate court in connection with the ongoing case.
