ISLAMABAD: France and Pakistan on Friday reaffirmed their commitment to deepen economic ties, explore investment opportunities and expand bilateral trade.
Ambassador of France to Pakistan Mr. Nicolas Galey called on Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Ali Pervaiz Malik at the Finance Division, a press release issued here said.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik gave an overview of Pakistan’s economic progress and highlighted positive trends such as increased foreign exchange reserves, reduced inflation and a strong stock market, all confirmed by recent ratings from international agencies.
He outlined key ongoing reforms, including privatization initiatives, development of the energy sector and restructuring of state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
The Minister of State highlighted the 2024-25 Budget with a focus on strategies to widen the tax base by integrating tax-free segments and encouraging non-compliance.
Important projects in the field of customs and inland revenue aimed at improving digitization and operational efficiency were also discussed.
He acknowledged the progress made by the Government of Pakistan in stabilizing the economy and expressed confidence in the potential for further cooperation.
