Chakwal: A devastating fire swept through the city’s busiest business center, “Super-Market” destroying four to six shops. The fire, caused by a short circuit, spread rapidly, affecting the entire market. Many clothing shops were destroyed, resulting a huge losses to the owners, mostly the Pakhtun traders.
The fire happened suddenly yesterday evening, but luckily, people nearby put out the flames and called Rescue 1122. The rescue team arrived quickly and stopped the fire from spreading.
Clothing traders, primarily Pakhtun businessmen, suffered significant losses, totaling between 2.5 to 3 crore rupees. The most affected shop owners included Mehrab Khan Cloth House, Musa Cloth House, Adeel Shah Quetta Cloth House, Noor Muhammad, Haji Kamal Khan and Sher Khan Cloth Houses.
The fire broke out suddenly yesterday evening, engulfing several shops quickly. Bystanders initially extinguished the flames and notified Rescue 1122, which arrived promptly and prevented the fire from spreading to the entire market.
In the aftermath, MPA Chaudry Haider Sultan expressed solidarity with the shop owners. Moreover, Traders Union of the Bazar took stand with the affected shop owners demanding compensation for their losses. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and are urged to take practical steps to provide relief to the affected businesses.
