Islamabad: The Regulatory Committee of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Thursday confirmed that football governing body FIFA and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) are satisfied with the performance of PFF in terms of selection.
PFF NC recently met with FIFA and AFC officials in Thailand at the 34th AFC Congress.
“Chairman Haroon Malik, along with NC members Mohammad Shahid Niaz Khohar and Saud Hashimi, represented Pakistan Football Federation Regulatory Committee at 34th Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress,” PFF said in a statement on its official Instagram account.
NC Chairman Haroon Malik briefed FIFA and AFC officials on the progress of PFF elections. Officials of FIFA and AFC have expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) in conducting PFF elections in a transparent manner.
PFF had successful discussions with officials from other countries in the meeting.
“The PFF delegation held talks with officials of Saudi Arabia and Qatar and held successful talks with representatives of several countries including Palestine, Syria and Afghanistan,” he said.
The tenure of the PFF NC was supposed to end in March this year, but the mandate was extended by FIFA until December 2024. This extension was given to ensure the completion of the pending PFF elections at the district level.
According to FIFA, NC’s mandate is to manage the day-to-day affairs of PFF, ensure proper registration and review of football clubs in Pakistan, preparation and approval of PFF election code with the help of FFFA and AFC, district level elections at provincial level organize and hold elections for PFF Executive Committee new
NC was appointed in September 2019 with Humza Khan as its chairman. Meanwhile, incumbent Haroon Malik and NC have been appointed in January 2021 after Humza’s resignation.
