FEDERAL MINISTER VISITS MULTAN TO REVIEW FLOODS

Multan –Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan arrived in Multan, On Friday where he visited the flood-affected areas of Jalalpur Pirwala. Federal Minister reviewed the temporary breach made by the National Highway Authority (NHA) on Uch Sharif Road to prevent greater lose. Talking on this occasion, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan stated that the NHA took a timely decision to ensure the protection of citizens as human lives and property are far more valuable. He emphasized that in such testing times, unity and collective efforts are essential. Federal Minister added that the recent flooding was an unforeseen situation for which all relevant institutions are working in coordination. During his visit, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also inspected the relief camp established at Government Boys High School, Jalalpur Pirwala where he reviewed the facilities being provided to flood-affected people and the ongoing relief operations. He assured that the NHA will remain fully vigilant under these circumstances and will maintain close coordination with the Provincial Government and district administration to ensure timely action in line with the evolving situation. Briefing the Federal Minister, the Federal Secretary for Communications and senior NHA officials told that the situation had been extraordinary as water from two rivers began to flow back instead of moving downstream. They assured the Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan that authorities are closely monitoring the situation and making every effort to minimize damage to citizens.
During his visit to Multan, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also inspected the rest areas along Motorway M-5 including Jalalpur Pirwala Rest Area. He expressed dissatisfaction over the cleanliness of washrooms and directed immediate improvements. Federal Minister issued orders for the construction of new executive washrooms at M-5 rest areas modeled on those of M-2 so that travelers can enjoy modern and high-quality facilities. Abdul Aleem Khan also inspected kitchens and canteens to review food prices and quality. He stressed that travelers on Motorways must be provided with the best facilities. Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan announced that he will revisit the sites in two weeks by which time today’s shortcomings must be addressed.
