MULTAN: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chairman of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), said on Thursday that the politics practiced in the country violated Islamic precepts.
Addressing a crowd at Jamia Qasimul Uloom, he stated that present politics is centered on interests. “Every candidate wants to become a member of the assembly,” he stated, emphasizing that politics was not about gaining power through devious means.
Rehman, who led the combined opposition alliance PDM in ousting the PTI administration, also slammed the PTI founder, claiming that the national economy suffered during his reign.
The JUI-F chairman stated that he had been working for peace in the country. He emphasized that relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan had deteriorated over the previous year. He stated that his party continues to support the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan.
The former minister for Kashmir affairs also condemned India for killing innocent Kashmiris in the occupied territory.
He expressed his support for the madrassa-based education system, stating, “We believe in religious and modern education”.
