SWAT: The head of the family was killed by lightning while 5 people including women and children were injured at Mohllah Aka Khail of Barikot Tehsil in Swat district here on Sunday. .
According to SHO Police Station Ghaligay Usman Ahmed, lightning struck Ziaullah Khan’s rented house in Mohallah Akakhail during heavy rain and the veranda of the house collapsed. As a result, the head of the family, Dawa Khan, son of Karim Dad, who was living on rent, died on the spot, while his son Zakir and daughter-in-law Mst Sara wife of Zakir, Basir’s four children, Saail, Sohail, Gul Sher and Marwa, were seriously injured by being buried under the debris.
Local people, police and rescue personnel have taken out the injured and shifted them to Civil Hospital Barikot after immediate medical assistance.
“Household goods and furniture have also been severely damaged in the accident.”
On the other hand, electricity meters of the entire neighborhood have been burnt due to lightning strikes in Saidu Sharif area of Swat district. Lightning struck Mohalla Shaheenabad during heavy rains. As a result, the electricity meters of the entire neighborhood were burnt and the entire area was plunged into darkness. However, there was no loss of life in the accident.
Apart from this, there has been snow in the last days of April on the mountains including Pulgah and Mahodand near the Kalam valley of Swat.
