Senator Faisal Vawda has raised concerns over the legitimacy of 37 affidavits submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members, claiming that the signatures on seven documents are suspicious.
On Thursday, he said on the private TV channel Vawda: “If the government plays both sides of the goal, it will only harm itself.”
Commenting on the internal divisions within the PTI, Vawda highlighted the formation of a forward bloc.
“There are many factions in the party,” he said.
“This is a critical time for the government to perform. Writing a letter to the IMF will hurt the country.”
He further criticized the PTI saying, “The party is again spreading poison. The founders of PTI 12 years ago were much more patient. I will not comment on their personal life but honest workers are being sidelined in favor of those involved in theft.”
Reflecting on the events of May 9, he claimed, “Terrorism was committed against the state.”
He predicted a tumultuous political climate in September and October, claiming that “nobody in the country is following the constitution and the laws”.
Senator Vawda also warned of PTI’s escalating troubles following the recent court rulings. “I suppose the bulldozers will come into play,” he noted.
“Given today’s language, PTI cannot move beyond May 9. PTI is heading to the Supreme Judicial Council and so are others. This is not a question of the Constitution itself, but of its interpretation.”
The former PTI leader concluded by emphasizing the role of Parliament and the judiciary, saying, “The country is heading for a constitutional crisis. Parliament has the authority to make the constitution, the role of the judiciary is only to interpret.”
