LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced that Faheem Ashraf will lead Pakistan’s seven-member squad for the upcoming World Sixers in Hong Kong. The eight-team tournament is scheduled to take place between November 1 and 3 at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong after a seven-year hiatus. Since the tournament’s inception in 1993, Pakistan have won the tournament four times and finished as runners-up five times, which includes qualifying for the finals in the last edition held in 2017. After witnessing the revival of this tournament, Cricket Hong Kong China Chairman Burji sounded enthusiastic. “We are excited to bring back this iconic event that showcases our city as a truly global city and East Asia’s sporting capital to the world and our cricket experience. The strategic plan is to develop the Hong Kong Sixes into a global series, culminating in a grand final at home every year,” said Burji Shroff, Chairman, Cricket Hong Kong, China. Some of the biggest names like Shahid Afridi, Imran Nazir, MS Dhoni, Wasim Akram, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Glenn Maxwell, Sanath Jayasuriya and others played in the tournament.
