Islamabad: Exports from the country in rupee terms rose 28.75 percent in the first eleven months of this fiscal year, reported the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Exports in July-May (2023-2024) amount to $1,000,000. 7,962,082 million, Rs. 6,183,949 crore in the same period last year, according to PBS provisional figures.
In May 2024, exports from Pakistan increased by 25.99 percent to Rs. 790.199 million compared to exports of $627.199 million in May 2023.
Exports from the country in April 2024 increased by 20.83 percent in May 2024, compared to exports of $ 653.957 million in April 2024.
In May 2024, the main export items include knitwear ($115.022 million), ready-made clothes ($97.564 million), bed sheets ($77.184 million), other rice ($75.311 million), cotton clothing ($48.117). million), towels ($28.768 million), petroleum products excluding peak Naphtha ($25.393 million), Basmati rice ($20.807 million), towels and sleepwear ($18.558 million) and cotton thread; 17.883 million).
On the other hand, the import volume during July-May (FY2023-24) was $1,000,000. 14,109,047 million, Rs. 12,272,596 million in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 14.96%
Imports to Pakistan in May 2024 were $1,000,000. 1,376,815 million (provisional) against Rs. 1,347,817 million in April 2024 and Rs. 1,228,739 million in May 2023, an increase of 2.15% in April 2024 and 12.05% in May 2023.
In May 2024, the main import items are petroleum products ($188.213 million), crude oil ($139.096 million), electrical appliances and equipment ($102.630 million), natural gas, liquids ($90.251 million). palm oil ($64,276 million), iron and steel ($57,624 million), plastic materials ($50,812 million), mobile phones ($44,198 million), pharmaceuticals ($32,719 million) and scrap metal and scrap ($31,537 million).
