Beijing: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi visited Shouguang district, known as the ‘factory capital’ of China, for a day at the invitation of the Shouguang government.
The Ambassador also spoke at the opening ceremony of the 25th China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Exhibition and toured the exhibition and visited the Pakistan Pavilion.
He praised Shouguang’s leadership in vegetable production and pointed to its international reputation as a center of excellence for vegetables.
Ambassador Hashmi highlighted the long-standing cooperation between China and Pakistan, especially in agriculture, which he considered to be the core of bilateral relations.
He highlighted Pakistan’s agriculture as a significant contributor to GDP and employment, and expressed his commitment to increase the country’s agricultural productivity through cooperation with Chinese partners.
He outlined favorable policies and favorable frameworks for cooperation, emphasizing the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation and continued development in agricultural trade and technology.
He also pointed to the prestigious China Food and Agri Expo in August 2024 as a platform for deeper cooperation and exchange in the agricultural sector.
Ambassador Hashmi extended a cordial invitation to stakeholders, professionals, entrepreneurs and investors to explore the opportunities in the agricultural sector of Pakistan.
During his stay in Shouguang, the ambassador interacted with the municipal administration and the two sides discussed ways to promote cooperation between Pakistan and Shouguang, including through investment and joint ventures and institutional mechanisms.
Ambassador Hashmi also visited the agricultural demonstration base in Shouguang.
