The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked a large number of unregistered mobile phones in use.
PTA has urged all consumers to register their mobile phones by paying the required taxes immediately and has also issued guidelines for purchasing devices.
According to PTA, consumers must ensure that all required taxes have been paid before purchasing a mobile phone. All payments should be made through verified sources, and devices must be registered through DIRBS.
As per the guidelines, unregistered mobile devices must have all applicable taxes and duties paid within 60 days. Consumers should personally deposit all required taxes only through authorized banking channels.
PTA has warned users not to fall for scams offering tax payment assistance, as mobile phone taxes are determined by the FBR, and PTA’s role is limited to registration.
