LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said this on Sunday
the government was fully aware of the challenges facing the country
and steps were necessary to solve economic problems.
Addressing a press conference here at the PML-N Secretariat, he said that Prime
Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared his program aimed at stabilizing the country
economy.
He said the prime minister took all matters seriously, including reducing the government
expenses, privatization of some state entities. “Restructuring of the Federal Bureau of Revenue and tax reforms are the main initiatives taken by the government to increase the tax net. All these measures are taken to reduce the burden on the poor people and bring the elites into the tax net,” he said.
He said that international economic magazines such as Bloomberg have flagged
the appointment of the Minister of Finance is a good step, with the fact that
magazines recognized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had potential
overcome economic problems through reforms.
He said, “Political stability leads to economic stability and sincere efforts are
done in this regard.”
Strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan,
during which seven soldiers, including two officers, were martyred.
He said Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar was also martyred
the only brother out of five sisters. He said how painful and tragic it was for his family. “Law enforcement agencies, the people of Pakistan, politicians and almost every segment of society
they have made many casualties in the war on terror,” he added.
Attaullah Tarar paid tribute to all the martyrs of Mir Ali including Lt.Col
Syed Kashif Ali and Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar and strongly condemned
malicious campaign launched by associated social media accounts
with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
“The PTI is involved in disrespecting the martyrs,” he said, citing some examples such as May 9 when state institutions were attacked, martyrs’ memorials vandalized and the Lasbela helicopter crash mocked.
The Federal Minister for Information said that the smear campaign against
martyrs was not acceptable and it hurt not only the feelings of the families
of the martyrs, but also of the entire nation.
He said those behind the vile campaign had been identified and strict action was taken
action would be taken against them. He said the accounts involved in the malicious campaign have been reported to the relevant platforms, but unfortunately the accounts are still operational.
He said: “One can resort to political criticism but for God’s sake stop promoting anti-Pakistan
agenda.”
He said, “Martyrs are the pride of the country and the guarantee of its survival.”
Attaullah Tarar said that it is high time to unite for greater interest
countries and certain red lines should not be crossed at all.
The minister claimed that some political elements wanted to harm
national economy for its own interests through negative tactics like
writing a letter to the International Monetary Fund.
He said it is the government’s mission to ensure development
in the country in addition to making people’s lives prosper.
He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf
should have openly condemned those who demonstrated in front of the IMF building and
filed online petitions to revoke Pakistan’s GSP plus status. “There is a need to promote national harmony. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif talked about the reconciliation charter just to
country on the way to real development,” he added.
He said that anything against the integrity of the country was not acceptable, adding that
all political parties should condemn such actions and make joint efforts
strengthen the country.
When asked, he said that many accounts involved in the vile campaign were
they were operating from abroad, but some account followers were as well
in Pakistan. He said many accounts were also operated from Pakistan, he added
that legal action will be taken against the elements involved in the mischief
campaign so that such elements meet their logical end.
