MARDAN: District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan Zahoor Babar Afridi visited the Mardan Press Club, and congratulated the newly elected Cabinet President Riyaz Mayar, Vice President Hidayat ur Rehman Hoti, General Secretary Pervez Khan and other officials of the Mardan Press Club. On this occasion, SP Traffic Saeed Khan, DSP City Ajab Khan and SHO City Abdul Salam Khan were also present along with DPO, Zahoor Babar Afridi also addressed meet the Press. During 2024, he took exemplary steps against criminals and anti-social elements with his best performance.The search and strike and combing operations carried out under the National Action Plan were successful in countermeasures. Presenting the annual performance report of Mardan Police, he said that Mardan Police arrested 2520 criminals and 1241 facilitators, including 45 dacoits, 2721 drug dealers, and 1201 people involved in aerial firing incidents were also brought to justice. Apart from this, 45865 suspects and bailable persons have been arrested and 2546 persons have been prosecuted by the police in the drive against drugs and illegal arms while taking effective action against poor security arrangements and unregistered tenants. 495 Kalashnikovs, 148 Kalakovs, 390 rifles, 464 short guns, 8608 pistols, and 1 lakh 23 thousand 864 cartridges seized. Similarly, 1750 kg of hashish, 46 kg of heroin, 316 kg of ice, 1.5 kg of opium, and 653 liters of liquor were also recovered in which 192 gamblers were also arrested. The DPO further said that the Mardan Police Service Center has shown its best public service by providing various free services and legal assistance to 67663 citizens which reflects the close relationship of the police with the people and the solution to their problems, he said that this performance in crime prevention, eradication of drugs, and establishment of law and order speaks volumes of the best policing. He further added. He said that there is no place for criminal elements in Mardan district. Indiscriminate actions against those involved in illegal activities and drug trafficking will continue.
