Pakistan has always remained in the grip of crises types throughout its history since its creation in 1947. Some issues can be termed as natural disasters and others emerge due to ineligibility of the rulers, administration and human beings.
Recent days most of the plain areas of Punjab, some other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and few localities of federal capital Islamabad area in the grip of the smog.
The smog has also become a source of politics for the political leadership as opposition parties allege ruling parties of responsible for the prevailing situation. They termed it failure of the incumbent government to chalk out any plan for tacking the smog situation.
On the other hand, the ruling political parties terming the smog a natural calamity exonerates themselves of responsibilities of all kinds in this connection.
Burning of crop residue is major source of smog in Pakistan during winter season. The government in the wake of the air quality concerns has banned burning of crop residue.
However, the farmers setting aside all prohibitions in this connection, the farmers continue to burn crop residues; an integrated response that applies systems thinking across economic, regulatory, and information policy is needed for change.
In the prevailing circumstances mending the behavior hold same importance like resolving the national issues.
Blaming each other responsible for the issues faced by the country is more disastrous than the said issues.
Political leadership without differentiation of its party affiliation is equally responsible to point out and make efforts to resolve the issues faced by the country. This country doesn’t belong to any individual or political party and every countryman needs to do what he can on his behalf.
