In the Lahore District and Sessions Court, a case involving anchor Ayesha Jahanzeb’s allegations of domestic violence against her husband has seen a development.
Ayesha Jahanzeb and her husband reportedly reached a reconciliation agreement during Friday’s hearing.
During the trial, Ayesha Jahenzeb was asked if she agreed to a voluntary reconciliation. She confirmed her agreement by saying that she reconciles of her own free will. “Whatever happened was torture and it shouldn’t happen to any woman,” she told the court.
After the judges’ decision, Ayesha Jahenzeb accepted it wholeheartedly and said, “Whatever the honorable judges have decided, I accept it.”
Ayesha Jahenzeb further communicated her decision not to pursue the case further. The decision was finalized in the presence of witnesses, she added.
Meanwhile, the court granted bail to suspect Haris after a trial. The Sarwar Road police station registered a case against Ayesha’s husband Haris.
On 10 July, Ayesha Jahanzeb’s husband was arrested on allegations of torture following her filing.
Ayesha Jahanzeb claimed that she was subjected to violence by her husband at least three times in the last year. She suffered serious injuries as a result of the alleged torture, prompting her to seek legal action, she said.
The FIR stated that Ayesha was tortured and injured by her husband. At Ayesha’s request, the police quickly intervened, leading to Haris’ arrest. After his arrest, Haris was brought before a judicial magistrate who authorized physical custody for two days.
