Attock: The Department of Population Welfare, under the auspices of District Attock, organized a one-day training workshop for journalists and columnists. This workshop was attended by journalists, columnists, social media representatives, as well as Zafar Iqbal Rehmani, District Population Officer Attock, Dr. Anika Malik, Psychologist, Sanam Khalid, Deputy District Officer, Clinical Psychologist, Khabib Nawaz, Incharge of Tehsil Fateh Jang, and special guest Shahzad Niaz Khokhar, Deputy Director Information Punjab, District Attock.
During the event, the speakers emphasized that family planning can help control the growing population. The only way for a country to develop is by addressing social, economic, and negative behavioral issues. The staff of the Department of Planning provides useful advice and guidance to address psychological issues, improve marital life, promote smaller families, the risks of early marriages, and the problems arising from early marriages such as physical, mental, and family challenges. They also work to improve marital relationships.
Dr. Anika Malik mentioned that while population growth is not necessarily bad, it is important for the quality of life and the benefit of society. The staff of the Population Welfare Department faces significant challenges due to social and cultural negative attitudes, which hinder their work. The cooperation of the media and the public is essential to raise awareness through media. The role of the media is very important.
Sanam Khalid shared that as young people grow older, physical changes occur, which can cause mental stress. Some youths fall into drug addiction due to bad company. The Population Welfare Department conducts counseling to guide and assist such individuals. Addressing the problems of youth and finding solutions is our primary responsibility.
Zafar Iqbal Rehmani, District Officer of the Population Welfare Department Attock, said that journalists are a crucial pillar of society, and journalism is a responsible profession. With responsible reporting and the positive role of journalists, we can work together to tackle the challenges of growing population, economic issues, and negative social behaviors. The officers of the Population Welfare Department presented statistics about the growing population and the related problems at both the national and international levels. They expressed concern about the alarming increase in births and unnatural trends among youth in District Attock.
Shahzad Niaz Khokhar, in his speech, emphasized that smaller families, having healthy growth, contribute better to the service of the country. It is the responsibility of the government, media, and the public to raise awareness about the dangerous consequences of overpopulation, involving scholars and intellectuals, so that Pakistan can join the ranks of developed nations.
