KHYBER: A special jirga under the supervision of the district administration was held in jirga hall, Landi Kotal on Wednesday in accordance with the Chief Minister’s special instruction under the Good Governance Policy.
Besides Additional District Commissioner (ADC)Nauman Ali Shah, assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Adnan Mumtaz,officials of line departments besides a large number of tribal elders, political elites and people from different walks of life were among the participants.
Highlighting aims and purpose of the convening the jirga ADC Nauman Ali Shah said that to get information of the genuine and main problems of the tribesmen, comprise a comprehensive report on it and convoy it to the provincial government as per order for its resolution.
He maintained that the provincial government was serious about addressing miseries of the locals in limited sources.
Earlier, locals tribal including Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid, Malik Abdurrazaq, Malik Khalid Khan, Malik Nadir Khan Shinwari, Mirajuddin Shinwari, Akhtar Ali and others expressed their dissatisfaction over the efficiency of line departments and put pile of complaints against provision of basic facilities like poor law and order situation, lack of health, education, electricity and roads etc.
They criticized the incumbent government for its poor ability and declared the present era as the worst governance they ever experienced.
They also demanded the government to feel sensitivity of the matter and resume the Pak-Afghan highway, blocked by the Koki Khel Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) for the last 36 days that multiplied their miseries.
After his speech,Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid along with dozens of councilors boycotted the jirga in protest and said such kind of gathering were organized only for photo shoots and not to resolve problems of the tribal being faced them since long.
