LAHORE: The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy match between Pakistan and India will be played on March 1, Indian media quoted ICC Council members as saying.
The match between the arch rivals will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Meanwhile, India’s match is scheduled to be held at a venue in Lahore.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shared the Champions Trophy schedule with the ICC, which is expected to be approved by the BCCI.
“PCB has proposed 15-match ICC Champions Trophy draft. Seven matches will be played in Lahore, three matches will be played in Karachi and five matches will be played in Rawalpindi,” said a member of the ICC Council.
In the proposed schedule, Group A includes Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Group B consists of England, South Africa, Australia and Afghanistan.
All member countries have confirmed their support for the Champions Trophy to the ICC. The BCCI will decide the Champions Trophy after consulting the government.
According to Indian media, the proposed date for the Champions Trophy is between February 19 and March 9. March 10 has been designated as the reserve day for the Champions Cup.
Last month, the PCB submitted next year’s Champions Trophy schedule to the ICC for final approval, where it was announced that the tournament will be held in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Seven matches including the final will be played in Lahore. The National Stadium, Karachi will host the opening and semi-final matches. There will be a total of three matches in Karachi. Rawalpindi will play five matches, including the semi-finals.
The event will mark the return of the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus, the last time in 2017, when Pakistan won the final by defeating India.
