The Construction work on two-public projects worth more than 2 billion rupees in the largest Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals in Swat district was slowed down.
“Patients come from all the districts of Malakand Division not only in Swat district but also in Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals.”
In the previous provincial government, former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan was approved two-important projects in the hospital, “cardiology unit” and “gynecology unit”, but the construction work on these two projects was stopped as soon as the government ended.
“Aafter the release of minor funds by the new provincial government, the work on the cardiology unit is going on at a fast pace, but the work on the gynecology unit is still closed after the excavation.
In this regard, Chief Executive Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals Professor Dr. israrul Haq said that these are two projects with 350 bedded, added that 150 bedded cardiology unit and 200 bedded gynecology unit are included and its total cost is 2.2 billion rupees.
He said that work on it was started in the previous government, but due to the change of government and lack of funds, the work on it was stopped.
Deputy Commissioner Swat Dr. Qasim Ali Khan said in this regard that both are important public projects and has demanded funds from the provincial government in this regard, added that unfortunately there is an issue of funding but he is in touch with the provincial government and soon the under construction project will be completed and other works will be started once the funds are released.
“The local people also demand that the government immediately release funds for these projects so that health facilities can be provided to millions of people.”
