During the Mobile World Congress in Spain, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, and Dr. Syed Khurshid Hasnain, Advisor of COMSTECH, met with the Huawei Cyber Security and Privacy Protection team to discuss the future of their strategic partnership.
With an emphasis on topics like security management, security incident response, vulnerability management, and keeping up with new security standards and technology, the partnership between COMSTECH and Huawei seeks to improve the cybersecurity expertise of OIC countries.
According to Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, COMSTECH’s objective is to enable member states to take advantage of Huawei Technologies’ strengths and opportunities. Huawei is a technological superpower.
Speaking about the alliance’s size and scope, Prof. Choudhary said that Huawei Technologies’ leadership was eager and forward-thinking, making the partnership a very flexible one. He announced plans to broaden the collaboration in order to launch, deploy, and utilize Huawei Technologies in sectors like cyber security, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
A Memorandum of Understanding was recently inked by COMSTECH and Huawei Technologies Pakistan with the aim of strengthening the cybersecurity capacities of OIC member nations and raising national awareness of cybersecurity. As per the current Memorandum of Understanding, Huawei and COMSTECH will work together to provide cybersecurity training that draws from Huawei’s methods and experiences. This will help chosen OIC governmental personnel become more knowledgeable about cybersecurity and develop their competence.
Prof. Choudhary continued, saying that the OIC region is highly uneven and that many of its member nations suffer from severe capacity deficits in terms of knowledge of laws, rules, and strategies in addition to technological proficiency. In order to achieve this, COMSTECH and Huawei have a wide-ranging relationship. COMSTECH hopes to use Huawei’s experience to gain a deeper comprehension of member states’ national strategies, enabling them to create their own laws and regulations pertaining to digital transformation.
In close collaboration with the Huawei Pakistan team, Dr. Syed Khurshid Hasnain is creating a matrix of activities that will include workshops, trainings both domestically and internationally, and the deployment of certain technologies.
