ISTANBUL: The death toll from the cold lava flow from Mount Marapi in Indonesia’s West Sumatra province has reached 37, and 17 others are missing.
According to Jakarta Globe News, cold lava water has affected residential areas in Agam and Tanah Datar.
“Information is still being collected and many of the dead are in Agam Regency,” said Abdul Malik, head of search and rescue in the provincial capital, Padang.
Search and rescue operations were temporarily suspended on Sunday due to rain.

A volcano also erupted in eastern Indonesia on Monday. The latest explosion was reported in the North Maluku province of Halmahera, but there were no casualties.
