LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a Kisan Card registration drive, stressing her commitment to increase the productivity and welfare of farmers.
The project will provide agricultural loans worth $300 billion to farmers every year. 500,000 farmers in Punjab who have 12.5 hectares of agricultural land can benefit from this project.
The CM informed that to apply for the card, one must register at the land registration center and the mobile SIM must be registered against the identity card number of the applicant.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that every farmer can get soft loan of $150,000 per crop season using Kisan Card. Farmers can buy fertilizers, seeds and other agricultural products using the card. The farmer’s ID will be verified by NADRA and it will be guaranteed that the applicant is not in default of any financial institution.
The CM said the farmers would repay the easy installments of the interest-free loan within six months. After paying the loan, he said, the farmer has the right to borrow again for the next crop.
Maryam Nawaz said that applicants can send their PKC ID number (Space) to 8070 from their registered mobile number.
