LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz says correct data is key for future and people will be given relief at their doorstep.
Addressing the inaugural meeting of the Social Economic Registry, CM Maryam said she applauded the efforts of Marriyum Aurangzeb and the Ministry of Planning.
She said that when she took oath in the month of Ramazan, she announced the package and provided it to the people at their doorsteps.
“We started receiving complaints about the lack of adequate data. We prepared Ramazan Package according to the numbers we had. We had many addresses without complete information.
“The phone numbers were out of date and wrong. Punjab has a population of 130 million and I don’t know what number belongs to the socio-economic register category.”
Maryam Nawaz was of the view that BISP also needs to be updated. Ramazan packs were made based on BISP and NADRA data. It was then that she realized that the government was making decisions without information and data.
She said they do not have enough data on farmers who have registered 12 acres of their land to avoid taxes.
The Chief Minister said she was not well aware of the data on homeless people, people living in rented accommodation and people in wheelchairs. She said she has opened a helpline for all projects and schemes. “Those who are not registered in the systems can register themselves on the helplines,” she said.
It said more than 5,000 registration centers have been established. “The center has well-trained staff. Data collection is not an easy task. Many people cannot pay their electricity bills. Introducing 4.5 million solar panels. The data is being received,” she said.
