LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday made history by launching a project to provide free medicine to patients across the province.
The country’s largest drug storage warehouse began operations on Wednesday. It has the capacity to store 17 billion rupees worth of medicine.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to complete the storage of medicines in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan as soon as possible.
The project is part of the CM’s ‘Health at Your Doorstep’ initiative to bring about improvements in the sector.
The Chief Minister visited the main drug depot in Maraka on Wednesday while launching a project to provide free drugs.
The CM was informed that nine warehouses have been set up to store the medicine.
Furniture and modern medical equipment would also be provided for the reconstruction of hospitals.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Information Azma Bukhari, Minister for Primary Health Care Kh Imran Nazir, Minister for Specialized Health Services Kh Salman Rafique, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and other officials were also present.
