Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, stated that the construction of the new Supreme Court Registry Branch building in Mirpur was a dream project, initiated during the golden jubilee celebrations of the AJK Supreme Court. Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony, he emphasized that the building would stand as a state-of-the-art structure, addressing future needs and serving the region for years to come.
Justice Raja Saeed Akram commended the AJK government, former Chief Secretary, Central Design Office, Physical Planning and Housing Department, and administration for their dedication and hard work on this historic project. He acknowledged their roles as the driving forces behind this initiative, describing it as a significant milestone for the judiciary.
The ceremony was attended by Supreme Court Senior Judge and Chairman of the Building Committee Justice Khawaja Muhammad Naseem, Supreme Court Judge Justice Raza Ali Khan, Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja, senior judges, district and session judges, Advocate General, Bar Council representatives, senior lawyers, officials from Physical Planning and Housing, and local administration.
Justice Raja Saeed Akram highlighted the significance of the day, marking 50 years of the AJK Supreme Court’s establishment. He stated that the building’s foundation ceremony is part of the golden jubilee celebrations, which are planned as an international event to acknowledge countries supporting the Kashmir cause and Pakistan’s stance.
He praised the efforts of former Chief Justices and other officials who contributed to the development of court buildings, including the Supreme Court and rest houses. The Chief Justice also appreciated the Central Design Office and Physical Planning and Housing Department for designing a project that meets modern requirements.
Justice Raja Saeed Akram awarded a certificate of excellence to Executive Engineer Shehzada Aurangzeb for outstanding performance in the project. The ceremony marked a historic day for the judiciary in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
