KHYBER: Members of civil society demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motto of murder of journalist, Khalil Jibran and conduct judicial inquiry to trace the killers.
In a protest rally organized at Bab-e-Khyber on Friday, former President of Peshawar press club Shameem Shahid,head of Khyber Union of Journalists Nasir Hussain,Central President of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Union of Journalist(KPUJ)Shams Mohmand,district chief of Awami National Party(ANP)Shah Hussain Shinwari,President North Waziristan press club Sfadar Dawar,head of Zwan Koki Khel Organization Sanaullah Afridi,Tehsil Chairman Landi Kotal Shah Khalid,Tehsil Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami Murad Hussain Afridi,President Tribal Union of Journalists Qazi Fazalullah,Afrseyab Afridi and others condemned brutal killing of a tribal journalist and asked judicial inquiry of it.
With collective efforts we can avert the menace of terrorism they added and said if the security forces have failed to provide security then they have no right to utilize their tax money lavishly.
They maintained that it seems that it is the second episode of the previous drama that must be curtained.
The participants also expressed their dissatisfaction over the weak sections, lodged in the First Information Report (FIR) and said it seems that the police have no intentions to apprehend the killers.
Journalists are the voice of laymen so they cannot compromise on freedom of journalism, they remarked.
They demanded the government to grant ten million rupees (Shaheed package) likewise they urged the Khyber News to give five million rupees financial support to their slain reporter.
The protestors while carrying placards and banners marched from Jamrud press club to Bab-e-Khyber, chanted slogans against martyrdom of the tribal journalist, Khalil Jibran.
