KUNMING: The China-Laos Railway, which started its international passenger service on April 13, 2023, has carried passengers from more than 100 countries and regions, according to the Mohan border crossing in southwest China’s Yunnan province. As of Wednesday, more than 1,260 international passenger trains have facilitated the smooth handling of more than 282,000 inbound and outbound passengers from 101 countries and regions. With a 144-hour visa-free transit policy, China-Laos Railway’s international passenger trains have become the preferred choice for travelers from both countries due to its economical, comfortable and convenient travel options for tourism, study, business and cultural exchange. The 1,035-km China-Laos Railway, a major high-quality Belt and Road cooperation project, connects Kunming, the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province, with Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
