On the border these days the political parties are seen under scrutiny. On one hand Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has been taken with open arms while on the other hand the Kashmir Party in India which is engaged in the freedom struggle has also been banned.
Although the case of Tehreek-e-Insaaf is different from the Kashmir Party and serious allegations have been made against it those are yet to be trail but in Kashmir India has already denied the basic rights of Kashmiris.
Similarly the story of provision of human rights in Pakistan is not spectacular. This is the reason why the number of missing persons is increasing on which the Chief Justice of Pakistan justice Faiz Isa also had to say that no one is satisfied with the commission created for that, including the famous lawyer of the country Atizaz Ahsan because new cases are still coming up. Until these lines were published the Election Commission of Pakistan did not ban Tehreek-e-Insaaf but it has taken away its electoral symbol because it has not conducted intra-party elections as per the Election Commission.
Now we have to see what is done with Awami National Party and other parties of the province. Considering these conditions the problems of Tehreek-e-Insaaf and other parties will continue in the same way till February 8. But it seems that these effects have now moved beyond the borders.
New Delhi has banned prominent political parties with pro-independence policies in its latest attempt to destroy the new democratic system in Occupied Kashmir. The latest ban is against Tehreek Hurriat Jammu and Kashmir which was founded and led by Syed Ali Shah Gellani until his death in 2021. It is certain that the real target of the ban is Musarat Alam Bhat because Musarat Alam Bhat succeeded Syed Ali Gellani as the leader of Hurriyat and he made his own party Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Musarat Alam Faction) strictly illegal.
Seen as illegal under the Prevention Act, New Delhi has got a clean chit to hold elections in Occupied Kashmir since the Indian Supreme Court’s favorable verdict in the Article 370 case. The Modi government has been in direct rule since the abrogation of Article 370 and the disputed region’s special status under the Constitution of India.
Even the Centre’s failure to schedule elections suggested it was concerned about how to ensure its desired results. At least six parties have been banned in recent weeks. It is also worth noting that Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has clearly stated that engaging in activities to withdrawal of Jammu and Kashmir from India is prohibited. This would suggest that India will soon list terrorist organization to the United Nations under the UAPA as the UN resolutions on Kashmir have called for actions that would threaten the independence of the disputed region but the UN is not interested in an election that could embarrass the BJP and show how its failed efforts to suppress Kashmiris have fueled anti-India sentiment in the illegally occupied territory. Behind what India is doing with the under-represented Muslims is its Hindu thinking.
Even in Pakistan since its independence political parties have been underestimated. This series was started with the Muslim League immediately after independence from which many groups were found. After that Bhutto’s People’s Party and then the Muslim League (N) were put on the line while now Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf is under scrutiny. Some of the reasons for which the state is stating but on the other hand this party is not being given a chance which is not at least fair. Now if the situation of the country is compared with Kashmir there are many similarities except that India has illegally occupied Kashmir.
On the other hand our state is bent on undermining democracy in the cycle of keeping everything in its hands in which the politicians themselves are also its participants. Therefore the only way to get out of such a situation is to give full opportunity to democracy and instead of creating gaps between institutions and masses they should be erased.
