Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani International Day Against Drugs and Illicit Trafficking
As we celebrate the International Day against Drugs and Illicit Trafficking, we must reflect on the impact of this problem on communities around the world, said Senate President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
He added that in our duty to fight drug addiction and illegal trade, we are united against threats to the health, safety and sustainable development of people around the world.
The Senate has taken important steps to increase awareness, prevent drug abuse and dismantle illegal drug networks. However, challenges remain that require unwavering commitment and joint efforts across all levels of government and across borders.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of drug addiction and promoting effective strategies for prevention and treatment. He said the day was a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect our communities and future generations from the harmful effects of drug addiction.
The President urged the people of the Senate to work together towards a future where everyone can live in a drug-free environment and ensure the welfare and well-being of our nation.
