Islamabad: PTA is working in concert with several partners to facilitate economic transactions and draw in foreign capital. These partnerships would support more hospitable business environments and assist in addressing industry concerns. PTA would aid the business community in advancing the ICT industry. Speaking to a delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which was led by President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, Maj. Gen. (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, Chairman, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, made these remarks.
According to PTA Chairman, the creation of extensive regulatory frameworks is driving revolutionary developments in Pakistan’s digital technology and telecoms industries.
According to him, PTA strives to give clients high-quality, reasonably priced services while guaranteeing investors receive respectable returns. In the last five years, the mobile phone industry has grown at an astounding rate of 29%, he claimed, enabling 90% of the population to access mobile services and driving up the number of internet subscribers to over 130 million. He gave his word that PTA would keep concentrating on enhancing service quality, coverage, and accessibility to encourage investment and make conducting business easier.
Speaking at the event, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari stated that PTAs and businesses alike depend heavily on the availability of inexpensive communications services and digital technologies in this cutthroat business climate.
He emphasized that the PTA should solve this issue to protect businesses from losses, saying that the suspension of mobile broadband services has a negative impact on businesses’ digital transactions and results in huge costs for them. Better cybersecurity, he added, is essential to safeguarding businesses’ sensitive data from cyberattacks, and he underlined that PTA should take appropriate action. In order to draw in foreign investment for local mobile phone production, he stated that Pakistan must encourage the manufacture of mobile phones and their parts domestically and that the PTA should implement more regulatory framework reforms. According to him, PTAs ought to contribute to some excellent broadband plans for SMEs and students. He promised that ICCI would support PTA’s initiatives.
Zafar Bakhtawari, former President ICCI and Secretary General UBG Pakistan stressed for enhanced broadband accessibility, especially in rural and far-flung areas to create business opportunities and improve the economy. Ameer Hamza, Saif ur Rehman Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
