ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Thursday said that the red tape in a short period of time has left a useful strategy for the incoming elected government to ensure public welfare and protect national interests. “The caretaker government has always given priority to national interests while taking policy decisions because it believed that they will work together for national stability and development,” the prime minister said while chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet at the prime minister’s office.
He said the government had improved the national economy and said “we are leaving the country’s economy in a better state than before”. He appreciated and thanked his cabinet members and civil servants for their tireless efforts during his short tenure in government.
The federal cabinet expressed satisfaction with the steps taken by the caretaker government regarding the restructuring of various institutions, the support of foreign investments and the provision of facilities for businesses. Appreciating Prime Minister Kakar’s prudent leadership on behalf of the federal bureaucracy, the Cabinet Secretary said he has taken important difficult decisions in the interest of the country that will have far-reaching results.

Among other items on the agenda, the Cabinet, on the recommendation of the Ministry of External Affairs, authorized Chief of General Staff General Syed Asim Munir NI (M) to receive the “Legion of Merit of the Turkish Armed Forces” awarded by Turkiye in honor of his services. on cooperation between the armed forces of Pakistan and Turkey. On the recommendation of the Ministry of Finance, the Cabinet also approved the extension of the deputation period of Lubna Farooq Malik as Director General of the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) from June 9, 2023 to June 8, 2024.
The Cabinet, on the recommendation of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFS&R), approved the signing of an MoU (MoU) between MNFS&R Pakistan and Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation. Under this MoU, Pakistan’s first International Date Festival will be held by September 2024 to promote date production in the country. The Cabinet approved the decisions taken at the meetings of the Economic Coordination Committee held on February 13, 2024 and February 14, 2024. The Cabinet also approved the decisions taken at the meeting of the Government Committee for State Enterprises held on February 16, 2024. The Federal Cabinet ratified the decisions taken at the Cabinet Legislative Affairs Committee meeting held on 16 February 2024.
