Vitamin D plays a significant role in our lives and our bodies, and its deficiency can lead to various health issues.
A recent study published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society reveals that Vitamin D can help control blood pressure.
The research highlights that when Vitamin D is taken alongside calcium, it can help manage high blood pressure in individuals who are obese or elderly.
The study involved 221 participants aged 65 and older, all of whom were overweight. The participants were divided into two groups, with their Vitamin D levels ranging from 10 to 30 ng/mL. Anything below 30 ng/mL is considered insufficient, and below 20 ng/mL is considered deficient.
The researchers provided one group with a lower dose and the other with a higher dose of Vitamin D, which they took for one year. The results showed a significant reduction in high blood pressure in both groups.
The study also noted that individuals who took Vitamin D experienced improved bone health and a reduced risk of fractures.
According to researchers, Vitamin D can be obtained from sunlight, but it can also be found in foods such as salmon, mushrooms, and eggs to address deficiencies.
