Islamabad: – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Khan Fidan invited Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sherif.
Emphasizing the special bond of brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the positive development of bilateral relations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further expand bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries in all areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, technology and defense.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the current level of bilateral trade is not commensurate with the existing bilateral relations. The two brothers said they should work together to achieve the US$5 billion bilateral trade target over the next three years, as agreed by the country’s leaders.
The Prime Minister invited Turkish companies to further expand their investment portfolio in Pakistan. Turkish companies may consider moving their industrial units to Pakistan.
Regional and global developments were discussed, particularly the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. The Prime Minister endorsed President Erdogan’s support for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and lasting peace in the Middle East.
The Prime Minister emphasized the urgency and importance of a two-state solution as the key to achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
The Prime Minister reiterated his cordial invitation to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to organize a first official visit to Pakistan to co-chair the 7th meeting of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council with the Prime Minister.
Both sides reaffirmed their strong and permanent support for each other on key issues of national interest.
