THE OVAL: England’s Jos Buttler praised the impressive performances of pacers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood after England won 2-0 against Pakistan in the fourth and final T20I at The Oval.
England’s pacers, eager to bowl first, disrupted Pakistan’s pace, with Archer claiming the crucial wicket of opener Babar Azam and Wood dismissing Azam Khan and Naseem Shan.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Buttler expressed his satisfaction with his team’s effort, especially the bowling performance of the duo.
“I’m really (happy) with the result. We worked hard in training, there is a good feeling in the team. They (Pakistan) started well but the boys managed to put it together. playing two more games we have a good experience, said Kai and Jofra Archer they work together in the field that has something in them.
While Archer and Wood set the tone, spin duo Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali tightened the screws in the middle. Suku Rashid scored two crucial runs while Moen registered the dismissal of Fakhar Zaman. Despite a late development from Usman Khan, Pakistan managed to post a total of 157.
In the chase, England’s opening pair of Phil Dooz and Buttler provided a strong foundation, scoring 82 in just 6.2 overs. Duz’s 45 off 24 and Buttler’s 39 off 21 set the stage for a comfortable chase. England won by 27 runs with seven wickets despite a brief fightback from Haris Rauff who claimed three wickets.
With this round win, England completed their T20I task ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies. Along with Australia, Oman, Scotland and Namibia in Group B, they aim to take their winning streak into the prestigious tournament.
