SWAT: The business community has called for a conference here on May 7 against taxation that revokes the special constitutional status of Malakand division.
The conference will be held at the Swat Press Club, where the anti-tax protest movement and future action plans will be announced.
The President of Malakand Division Traders Federation Abdul Rahim said in a media interview that Swat and other districts in Malakand Division are underdeveloped and badly affected by terrorism and natural disasters and have a special status under Article 246 and 247 of the Constitution of Pakistan, it is a tax-free zone. But unfortunately due to the inability of our public representatives the constitutional status of FATA and PATA has been revoked and now steps are being taken by FBR and other agencies to implement taxes in Malakand division from June 30, 2024.
In any case, he said, we will not allow taxation by canceling the special status of Malakand division and we will launch a strong resistance movement against it.
He further said that business groups started this movement and we call on all political parties, transporters, lawyers and other like-minded people and organizations to unite against this oppressive step of the government.
