Tragedy Strikes: Bridge Collapse in Hunza Claims One Life, Another Missing. The bridge connecting Khudaabad Hunza and Nagar Ghulmat collapsed, a Mini truck washed away in the river, the driver was killed while another passenger is still missing.
The bridge connecting Khodaabad village of Hunza district with Karakoram Nagar Highway collapsed yesterday when a Mazda vehicle was passing over the bridge with 2 persons on board. On this occasion, the local volunteers started their rescue efforts and pulled out the driver from the river, who was taken to the hospital for medical assistance, but he could not survive.
The second person who was swept away in the accident is still missing and the search is on. It should be noted that the residents of the area were already making noise about the condition and dilapidation of the suspended bridge, but the authorities ignored warnings.
