Karachi: Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid met Bill Gates, Co-Chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The debate focused on key initiatives aimed at reducing poverty through skills development and women’s economic empowerment.
During the meeting, Senator Rubina Khalid Benazir highlighted the importance of skill development in lifting the beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Program out of poverty. He said, “Economic empowerment is a prerequisite for the empowerment of women in general. Financial independence is the key to their freedom and success. Raising beneficiaries from poverty is our priority and the Benazir Income Program is committed to various projects to achieve this goal.”
One of the key developments discussed was the introduction of a digital system to improve transparency in the payment of quarterly allowances. This system is to ensure that beneficiaries receive their payments quickly and securely, thereby increasing the efficiency of the entire program.
Bill Gates appreciated the initiative and implementation of Benazir’s Income Support Program and called it a good life program for the needy. He expressed full support for the program, which has made significant progress in combating malnutrition and improving food security for vulnerable populations. “I commend the Benazir Income Support Program for its remarkable success in addressing critical issues such as malnutrition and food security,” Gates said.
President Rubina Khalid thanked Bill Gates for his continued support of the Benazir Income Program project. “We are very grateful for the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which drives our efforts to empower the most deserving communities,” he said.
