Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday reiterated his political contribution to the proposed 2024-25 budget to achieve the target.
“Without political input, your budget will not work. The relief you want to give to the people will not be possible. You do not know any of the ‘maids’ in Islamabad; know about them,” he said.
“Without political contributions, the budget will be released for babies and children. We want to stop this tradition,” the PPP chief said.
The PPP, a key ally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), continued its protest against the federal budget for the next fiscal year, starting July 1.
The two parties held several talks during which the PPP shared its grievances and the party led by Shehbaz Sharif. A day earlier, sources said that the PML-N had accepted all the demands of its main allies.
Bilawal said in the NA session that a politician would never propose a milk or stationary tax in a country where 40% is appalling and 26 million children are out of school, but it would be a “grandfather” proposal.
The politician expressed hope that Prime Minister Shehbaz and his team could pull Pakistan out of trouble. “The government has managed to reduce inflation slightly”.
The Chairman of PPP said, until now, he has not been able to give freedom to the general public in the revenue issue and said that every budget focuses on the indirect budget issue.
Talking about climate change, Bilawal said that it is a problem for future generations and said that it should be taken seriously.
He said Pakistan should suffer due to climate change.
The former minister also said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was used for political reasons. The removal of the NAB manifesto and the biggest supporters of NAB can also endorse this move,” he said.
Bilawal said that NAB is an organization that harms political institutions and democracy.
