PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday hit out at the PTI for suggesting “distraction” from the same man who “taught” its leader the importance of upholding the Constitution.
Addressing the National Assembly, Bilawal was mocked by PTI-affiliated MPs and asked why his party leader wanted to hold talks with the military instead of political organisations.
“They don’t talk to politicians when they support the constitution,” he said. “The leader of the opposition (Umar Ayub) is speaking in support of the constitution […] they make people who are not involved in politics, who are forcing their feet.”
In April, former prime minister Imran Khan said some PTI leaders were still linked to the outfit, but party leader Gohar Khan denied “secret talks”.
Earlier this month, Imran combined any talk of the return of the party’s “stolen mandate” with the release of “innocent detained workers”. On Monday, he said he would not seek an exit deal, and the following morning he said he was willing to join peace talks with the governing coalition, but with some tough conditions.
Speaking on the floor of the Lower House of Parliament today, Bilawal said: “They say one thing, but their policies are different.
Bilawal had earlier called on the PTI to play its role in governing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying it had even fueled discontent among the opposition benches.
Describing the work of PPP, Bilawal said, “Sindh invited PTI and their government to come to our hospital; We will show the poor how free and quality care is available.
In one of his speeches, the PPP chief said he wanted to express his displeasure at the “determined attitude” of the protesting opposition.
In the past few days, NA has seen frequent protests and heated exchanges between the treasury bench and the opposition.
On Monday, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif publicly attacked PTI’s Omar Ayub after he suggested that those who violate the constitution should be tried for treason under Article 6 (revolution). In response the next day, Ayub called Asif’s comments “personal” and “baseless”.
Grain crisis
Bilawal also pointed out the aggrieved farmers in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan and said that PPP, PML-N and PTI agree that agriculture is the pillar of the economy.
“It’s a matter of getting all parties on the same page. It calls for accountability for the financial killing of farmers that have been and continue to be home,” he said.
He said, this decision greatly affects farmers, agriculture, society and the country’s economy.
Bilawal demanded an end to the endless formation of committees and said urgent action should be taken to rectify the situation and address farmers’ problems.
“To add insult to injury…whatever the farmers have to do, there is a ban on exporting wheat,” he said, adding that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif should identify the individuals and bureaucrats involved and take immediate action. against.
Bilawal said that the country has faced the problem because of “democratic, unelected, incompetent and incompetent” decisions.
The PPP chairman hopes that an immediate lifting of the wheat export ban will bring direct benefits to the farmers.
